Expandi Email Integration Pricing and Setup
Expandi sends email follow-ups from a mailbox you connect to each LinkedIn account, included in the $99 seat ($79 annual), and links natively to Smartlead. What the built-in steps cover, what a real email setup costs on top, and which pairing to buy.

Expandi does send email. You connect a mailbox to each LinkedIn account in Expandi and add email follow-up steps to the same Builder campaign as your connection requests and messages, at no extra charge on the $99 a month seat ($79 on annual billing). It also has a native Smartlead integration for teams that want a real cold email engine behind it. The built-in route suits a few follow-ups a day from one inbox. Once email is meant to book meetings at volume, you need a dedicated sender, and that adds $24 to $38 a month on annual billing.
What the Expandi email integration includes
Expandi's pricing page, read in October 2026, lists one plan per LinkedIn account with every feature included, and "Multichannel Outreach" is one of them: "You can send connection requests, messages, and email follow-ups in just one sequence." Here is what that covers and what it leaves out.
| Piece | What it does | What it does not do |
|---|---|---|
| Native email steps | Sends email follow-ups from a mailbox you connect to that LinkedIn account, inside the same visual campaign | Rotate across several inboxes or warm the mailbox; the warm-up on the pricing page is for the LinkedIn profile |
| Mailbox connection | Connects Gmail, Outlook and custom providers with SMTP credentials; Gmail needs 2-step verification and an app password | Use a one-click OAuth sign-in for Gmail; Expandi's June 2026 help article walks through generating the app password |
| Smartlead integration | Pushes leads from an Expandi campaign into a Smartlead email campaign at an "Integrations" step, or pulls Smartlead leads into Expandi | Pause LinkedIn automatically when someone replies by email; Expandi's own guide says that needs Smartlead webhooks |
| Paid extras | Video personalization through a Sendspark integration | Come with the seat; Sendspark is listed as a paid add-on |
That split makes sense. Expandi's real product is LinkedIn account safety: limit ranges, gradual profile warm-up and per-account control. Email is a follow-up channel inside that sequence, not a deliverability system, and Expandi's own blog tells readers that "SmartLead handles cold email. Expandi automates LinkedIn outreach."
Expandi email integration pricing and the full monthly bill
The seat price is simple. Expandi charges $99 a month per LinkedIn account, or $79 a month on the annual plan, which its FAQ describes as a 20% discount. Teams above ten seats get a sales-quoted plan, and white label sits there too. The email side is where the bill moves, so here is one LinkedIn account plus one email setup, using vendor list prices checked between September and October 2026.
| Setup | Annual billing, per month | Monthly billing | Link to Expandi | Who writes the emails |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Expandi with its built-in email steps | $79 | $99 | Native | You |
| Expandi plus Smartlead Base | $111.50 | $138 | Native, by API key per LinkedIn account | You, with AI assists |
| Expandi plus Instantly Growth | $116.60 | $146 | Through CSV or automation tools | You, with AI assists |
| Expandi plus AutoMail Starter | $103 | $148 | Through CSV or automation tools | The AI, one sequence per prospect |
The base email tiers do not include mailboxes or domains. Smartlead's own add-on table prices Zapmail mailboxes at $4.50 each and domains at $13, so a five-inbox pool costs roughly $23 a month plus domains. On AutoMail you connect your own Google or Microsoft inboxes, up to five on Starter and 25 on Growth, and warm-up, rotation and the pre-send spam check come with the plan.
When the built-in email steps are enough
The native route works when email is a polite second touch. A typical case: a founder sends 20 connection requests a day, and anyone who ignores the invite for a week gets one short email from the founder's own Gmail. That is a handful of emails a day from a mailbox with years of normal history, and it does not need anything more.
It stops working when email becomes a channel you expect meetings from. Three limits show up quickly.
- One inbox carries everything. A common safe ceiling for cold email is 30 to 50 messages per inbox per day, and new prospects plus follow-ups fill that fast. Spreading volume across several warmed inboxes is how dedicated senders stay out of spam.
- Your main domain takes the risk. Connecting the work Gmail you use for customers puts that domain's reputation behind cold volume. Senders built for outbound expect secondary domains.
- Replies need two systems to agree. When a prospect answers an email, the LinkedIn steps should stop too. With Smartlead, Expandi documents that this takes a webhook set up on the Smartlead side.
Does Expandi have an email integration?
Yes. Each LinkedIn account in Expandi can connect a mailbox under its Integration Apps settings, and Builder campaigns can then mix email steps with LinkedIn actions. Expandi also integrates natively with Smartlead through an API key, so leads can move into a Smartlead email campaign at any point in the LinkedIn sequence.
How do I connect Gmail to Expandi?
Turn on 2-step verification in the Google account, generate an app password named for Expandi, then paste that password into Expandi's email integration instead of your normal Gmail password. Click Test Credentials, then Connect. Google no longer lets third-party apps sign in with only a username and password, which is why the app password step exists.
Does Expandi charge extra for email?
No. Email follow-up steps are part of the single Expandi plan at $99 a month, or $79 on annual billing, per LinkedIn account. What costs extra is everything around volume email: a dedicated sending platform, additional mailboxes and domains, and verified addresses. Sendspark video personalization is also a paid add-on.
Does Expandi integrate with Smartlead?
Yes, natively. You copy the API key from your Smartlead profile, paste it into the LinkedIn account's Integration Apps settings in Expandi, then add an "Integrations" step to a Builder campaign that drops leads into a chosen Smartlead campaign. Smartlead stops its own email sequence on reply by default; pausing the Expandi side needs Smartlead webhooks.
What is the best email tool to pair with Expandi?
Smartlead if you want the only native link and you will write the sequences yourself. Pick AutoMail if writing emails good enough to get answered is the slow part, because it researches each prospect and writes the whole sequence, then pauses on reply and routes interested answers to your booking link. It connects to Expandi through a CSV export or an automation tool.
Where verified addresses and the phone fit in
Expandi does not sell a contact database, so the email half needs addresses from somewhere. Verify them before the first send, because bounces hurt a new sending domain more than anything else. And if your sequence ends with a call to the prospects who engaged on LinkedIn but never answered an email, an AI cold calling assistant that qualifies and books meetings can take that last step without adding a rep.
Which setup to buy
- Expandi alone if email is a light follow-up from one inbox and LinkedIn is where you expect replies.
- Expandi plus Smartlead if you run real email volume, want a native handoff and have someone whose job is writing sequences.
- Expandi plus AutoMail if email is the channel that books most meetings and your team loses hours writing it. Keep Expandi for LinkedIn and let AutoMail research, write, warm, rotate and route replies, from $24 a month on annual billing.
